Below is a list of TED talks that, in one way or another, touch upon topics and issues in the Psychology of Personality. Please choose one that you didn’t already reflect on, watch it and write a two page reflection that includes:
A brief summary of the talk
Your thoughts on the overall point of the message. What is the speaker trying to say?
Connect the talk/topic to what we have been talking about in class so far (defining what “personality” is, how we approach understanding it, etc.)
Share your thoughts and reactions to the talk
My suggestion is to be creative. By giving you this assignment I am hoping to encourage you to notice that the psychology of personality seeks to understand the complexities of being human. Everything we study somehow attempts to explain a facet of being us and how the pieces fit together
Your paper is due before midnight Thursday, April 7th. You can email as an attachment, a PDF, or share a Google Doc; whatever works best for you.
As always, if you have any questions, I am happy to Zoom, email or talk over the phone with you to discuss and explain. Whatever works for you.
The Talks
Julian Baggini: Is There a Real You?
Brian Little: Who Are You, Really?
