Reflect on your reading Cultivating Genius by Gholdy Muhammad, Chs. 5-8. This is not intended to be a formal paper and it is NOT A SUMMARY. I have read the book, so I don’t need a summary. I’m interested in your thoughts and your reactions to the the text. Your task is to demonstrate deep reading and deep engagement with the ideas. I’m interested in what you’ll be taking with you from the reading — your unique perspective.
Consider:
What specific ideas interested you?
What perplexed you?
What surprised you?
What ideas did you disagree with?
What ideas are you still thinking about?
How do these ideas apply to teaching your content area?
What take-aways might you share with peers or fellow educators?
I suggest jotting notes as you read in the margins or on sticky notes. You’ll want to balance your reflection paper so that you’ve got a page or so on each chapter of the book. Feel free to include short quotes and paraphrase ideas to ground your reflections.
Possible sentence starters:
I think…
I wonder…
I notice…
This made me question…
I agreed/disagreed…
