Community policing has evolved during the late 80s and 90s because of the need for police to connect with the community to fight crime. Having a partnership creates openness and give the police insight into where the police can help in solving these issues.

Why is it important for the police to understand the expectations of the police?
How can police address these expectations, whether they are in their power or outside of their ability to change it?
Does the community you live in have a similar community policing program?
What steps would your community need to take to achieve a similar community policing program?
